The recent 7.9 magnitude earthquake with epicenter at Barpak VDC, Gorkha district, Nepal on 25th April, 2015 has devastated lives and put us in deep shock. Many lives and properties are lost. We are in crisis!
Nepal is in deep pain at present. The earthquake has affected every Nepali citizen throughout the country. About 39 districts are affected by the earthquake. In particular the following districts are severely affected.
Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), Kaski has been involved in relief management and resource distribution for the affected areas from day 1 after the earthquake. NRCS, Kaski is coordinating from its office at Pokhara. We are also coordinating with different NGOs for the effort.
NRCS, Kaski has mobilized various teams which include medical professionals, rescue and first aid teams. We are actively providing resources for the most needed ones. On 26th April, 2015, the rescue teams reached at Barpak Village Development Committee (VDC) of Gorkha district. It distributed tarpaulins (Pal), blankets, dry foods like noodles, and drinking water to 450 households. Additionally, on 27th and 28th of April, another team delivered additional food items and NFI (non-food items) to Keronga and other surrounding VDCs. We are currently in need of food and non-food item to the victimized people of Gorkha. (Source: Press meet on 28th April, 2015).
Approx. 3,000 household of the rural area in Kaski district are affected. NRCS, Kaski has distributed relief materials to 666 households. These are distributed according to the damage condition reported by VDC representatives. (Source: Press meet on 28th April, 2015)
At present we are in need for more relief materials and resources. Our inventory is not enough. The Executive Committee of NRCS, Kaski has decided to appeal to our best wishers. We are looking for funds from within Nepal and abroad. Any organization and institutions such as Banks, Enterprises, Financial Institutions, Education Institutions, Local Government Authorities, INGOs, NGOs, Social Organization, Bilateral Organization, Federations, Network Organization, Professional Organization, Churches, Charity Organizations, ICRC, IFRC, Sister Societies of Red Cross Society, and NRN Wings are welcome to support NRCS, Kaski in its effort for the disaster relief. We also heartily welcome and encourage individual contributors, NRCS best wishers, and members for any financial contributions for this noble humanitarian cause.
